Facilitation is the art of creating purposeful and effective group conversations. These meetings or workshops might aim to improve understanding, generate new ideas, make decisions or generate plans collectively. Whatever you want to achieve through your meeting, away day or workshop as a facilitator I can help you plan and deliver one-off or regular events that are enjoyable, creative and productive.

Recent events I have facilitated include:

  • ARTIST ROOMS partner consultations, for Tate and National Galleries of Scotland
  • Board away day, the Tetley Leeds
  • Museums service strategic planning day, Southend Borough Council
  • Team away day, for Dancers’ Career Development agency
  • Visual Arts sector consultation, for Creative Scotland

I am an accredited Action Learning facilitator (ILM/ Action Learning Associates) and also have experience in facilitating virtual meetings and Action Learning/ Group Coaching.

Sometimes a workshop or away day event might include an element of training, and I also deliver bespoke training courses on aspects of organisational and professional development, including leadership and coaching (in association with Relational Dynamics 1st). For RD1st I deliver a range of course from one-day entry level course, to fully accredited coaching and leadership programmes for both in-house clients and as open courses.

I also regularly contribute to leadership programmes as a guest speaker and trainer including on Clore Fellowship, University of Leeds Arts Philanthropy and Leadership course and engage Extend leadership programme on topics including: leadership models, team dynamics and working in teams; leading change and, planning research projects.

“Claire supported me to develop a series of workshops in order for the team to participate in the development of a strategy for the department. Claire very quickly secured the confidence of the team as a facilitator. The workshops were clear in their aims, provided clear outputs and have left the team at Tate Liverpool with a positive sense of direction.”

Sue Grindrod, Head of Visitor Services & Operations, Tate Liverpool

“Claire facilitated a day’s joint strategic planning for two of our teams.  Her meticulous planning ensured that the aims of the day were clear and realistic and that the teams were engaged in the process.  Claire was an informed and positive facilitator, and the well-structured workshop has enabled the teams to move forward with clear outcomes and a shared sense of purpose.”

Katrina Crookall, Senior Manager, Barbican Art Galleries

“It was extremely helpful to have an objective facilitator because through asking the right questions and offering a structure to work to, Claire helped us to have a clearer understanding of where we were, the issues we faced, and the steps we needed to take to move forward.”

Nina Byrne, former Marketing Manager mima
