coaching

Coaching is a learning or developmental process in which a coachee receives support from a coach to achieve a specific goal or result, usually via a series of conversations or coaching ‘sessions’. Coaching helps the coachee to recognise the values, strengths and skills they already possess and enables the coachee to use to them to the best of their ability to maximise their performance and results.

As a business coach, I work mainly in the workplace with people in management and leadership positions and focus on ‘relational dynamics’: that is using coaching to develop emotional intelligence and improve relationships and performance.

The benefits of coaching include that it:

  • enables the coachee to identify their goal and improves performance and results by developing realistic plans to achieve it.
  • encourages self-dependency and builds confidence by enabling the coachee to take responsibility for their own development and actions.
  • develops emotional intelligence: the understanding of self and others.
  • offers tools and models to overcome barriers and patterns of behaviour.
I like to meet prospective new clients face to face to discuss what they hope to get from coaching and so that we can meet in person, although I’m happy to conduct subsequent sessions via phone or face to face depending on client preference.

I have been coaching for three years and am an accredited Relational Dynamics coach (http://www.relationaldynamics1st.co.uk) and an Associate Member of the Association for Coaching. I am currently working towards full membership within the next 12 months.

Members of the Association for Coaching (AC) have to meet certain criteria (including having undergone training, possessing coaching experience, having a qualified supervisor to oversee their practice, committing to undertake a minimum of 30 hrs continuous professional development per annum, having testimonials and professional indemnity insurance etc).  The AC is committed to maintaining and promoting excellence in coaching and all members sign up to its Code of Ethics and Good Practice http://uk.associationforcoaching.com/pages/about/code-ethics-good-practice

I have professional indemnity insurance and undergo regular professional development and supervision. I have experience of offering life and career coaching to individuals and business coaching within the non-profits arts sector and welcome enquiries for individuals or organisations.

I’ve written a short introduction to what coaching is and what is involved to cover frequently asked questions – but if you have any other questions please just ask.

If you’re interested in finding out more about what coaching could offer you then please get in touch to arrange a free introductory session.
